I just have to add that it is funny but I'm not laughing:) how I design and make quilt blocks. fabric blocks and I don't have a clue how to make a quilt. But, I think I just might learn. It is about time. I want to make a gorgeous mermaid quilt.

I designed this baby quilt on my own and it was delivered to California in March. Little Hannah, my niece was born in December and her mother rescues horses, so that was my idea behind including a picture piecing method of a horse head in the center of it and then personalized it with her first and unique middle name appliqued on it. I made it really big so she will hopefully still be using it when she goes off to college one day. I did not do the free motion quilting myself on this baby quilt, I think it turned out fantastic, I will find out if she has a website I can share right here on my blog as well. This quilt is best described by Mel herself: An oldie but goodie! This one is so close to my heart for two reasons, it was the first quilt I put together and it's made predominately from scrap bits of fabric my mother had made dresses out of for me in the 70s. When I hug it - I'm getting a lovely hug from mom. So this one will always stay with me! A beautiful example of quilting at its finest.
